Transcript:How to Make Benihana's Hibachi Steak
Hi, I am Gina Miller with About.com food, and I am going to try to make a dish from a popular restaurant on my outdoor grill: Benihana's hibachi steak. So I don't have the marvelous metal grills found in Benihana's, so I am going to use my outdoor grill and focus more on my marinade to try and duplicate that great Hibachi steak flavor.
Ingredients for Benihana's Hibachi Steak
The ingredients you will need are:
- 4 small sirloin steaks (about 5 ounces each)
- 4 teaspoon peanut oil
- 1/2 cup Asian sesame marinade
For the dressing:
- 8 large mushrooms, sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
Marinate and Grill Benihana's Hibachi Steak
In a bowl add the Asian sesame dressing, salt and pepper and meat set aside and let marinate for 10 minutes. Preheat grill to medium high heat. Grill steaks until rare, about 3 minutes on each side. Remove steaks from grill and cut into strips.
Finish and Serve Benihana's Hibachi Steak
Now place peanut oil in skillet and heat till hot on high, then add the mushrooms and sauté till mushrooms are tender, about 2-3 minutes. Now add the steak pieces and mushrooms in hot skillet, sauté another minute or two. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss and serve with rice. And that is it -- Benihana hibachi steak in your own home.
