Ingredients for Grilled Pound Cake and Peaches

To make grilled pound cake and peaches, you will need:

  • 6 large ripe peaches
  • 1-1/2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 6 slices pound cake, sliced 3/4-inch thick

Prepare Grill and Peaches

Before you do anything, preheat your grill and make sure the grate is nice and clean and oiled. Our first step is to get the peaches ready, so wash them and then cut them each in half. The peaches are the star of the show, so really try to use ripe, juicy peaches with lots of flavor.

Make Honey Butter Sauce

To make the sauce, combine 1 stick of butter, the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a small saucepan. Heat it until the butter melts and the sauce is smooth.

Grill Peaches

Now head outside, and carefully dip each peach half in the sauce before putting it on the grill. The fire will probably flare up a little bit, but that’s okay. Cover the peaches and cook them for five minutes on this side.

While you’re waiting for them to cook, put the pan of sauce back on the stovetop on low heat. We’re going to cook it down until it becomes a gorgeous sauce with the texture of caramel.

After 5 minutes, carefully flip the peaches and cook them for another 5 minutes on the other side, until they offer no resistance to the fork.

Once they’re cooked, remove them from the grill and cover them to keep them warm. If you want, you can cut them into quarters to make them easier to eat. It’s a good idea to check on your sauce and see if it’s ready—it should be thick and flow like caramel by now.

Grill Pound Cake Slices

Melt the remaining ½ stick of butter in the microwave then brush both sides of the pound cake slices with butter and place them on the grill.

These will cook faster—you’re looking at probably 2 minutes per side. You don’t want them charred, just toasted so they have a nice buttery crunch.

Serve Grilled Pound Cake and Peaches Immediately

Once the pound cake slices are off the grill, you should serve this dessert right away, while the peaches and pound cake are still warm. My favorite way to serve this is with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Layer the peaches on top of the pound cake and then drench the whole thing with the honey-butter sauce. The flavors are incredible, and this is pretty much the perfect summer dessert.
