Transcript: Peanut Butter Cookies

Hi, I am Gretchen Siegchrist for About.com Food, and I am going to show you how to make peanut butter cookies, which are a big favorite in my house.

Peanut Butter Cookie Ingredients

For this recipe, you need:
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Combine the Peanut Butter Cookie Ingredients

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine the brown sugar, peanut butter, milk, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer to beat the ingredients together.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ones, mixing as you go.

Put the Batter on a Cookie Sheet

Spoon the cookie dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. These cookies are already plenty greasy, so you do not have to worry about them sticking.

Use a fork to press down the batter, making the crisscross pattern that is distinctive to peanut butter cookies.

Bake and Serve the Peanut Butter Cookies

Bake the cookies for seven to eight minutes, until they begin to brown. Remove them from the oven and cool before serving.
