Transcript:Homemade Carrot CakeHi, I'm Gretchen Siegchrist for About.com Food, and I'm going to show you how to make carrot cake.
Carrot Cake IngredientsFor this recipe, you need:
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
- 2 cups of sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3 cups grated carrots
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Prepare the Carrot Cake IngredientsBegin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and greasing the baking pan. Use a cheese grater to grate the carrots. In a large bowl, mix together the eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
Combine the Carrot Cake IngredientsAdd the dry ingredients to the wet, stirring as you go. Now mix in the carrots and the walnuts.
Bake the Carrot CakePour the batter into the baking pan and place it in the oven. Let the cake bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until a fork comes out clean. Let the cake cool before frosting it.
