Transcript:Quick Tip: How to Sprout Broccoli Seeds
Hi I'm Maria Saracen from ArtfullyNourished.com and in this video for About.com I'm going to show you how to sprout broccoli seeds. Here's how you do it:
How to Start Sprouting Broccoli Seeds
Take a tablespoon or two of broccoli seeds and put them in a sprouting jar with three times as much water. You can also use a mason jar covered with cheese cloth or a glass bowl with a cover, but because broccoli seeds are so small, I find that a sprouting jar, with a fine strainer lid, is the best option.
The next step is to soak the broccoli seeds overnight or for about 8 hours. Once they're finished soaking, drain the water and rinse the seeds.
Place the jar on it's side in a warm, dark place - but not a cupboard because they do need ventilation.
How to Care for Sprouting Broccoli Seeds
You'll need to rinse and drain the seeds every 8 - 12 hours throughout the sprouting process and in about 5 -7 days, you should have some very healthy-looking sprouts.
If you want them to get greener, the final step is to place them near a window where they can get some sun. And now, your sprouts should be delicious, nutritious and ready to eat..
