Transcript:How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie
Hi, I’m Maria Saracen from ArtfullyNourished.com, and in this video for About.com I’m going to show you how to make a delicious strawberry smoothie.
Strawberry Smoothie Ingredients
Here are the ingredients you’ll need for approximately 32 ounces:
- 10 fresh or frozen strawberries, with the stalks cut off
- 1 1/2 cups of almond milk
- 1 to 2 bananas
- ice
In terms of variations, you can use any type of milk instead of almond milk and if you want a really creamy consistency you can also use plain yogurt. The reason I like to add a banana to my strawberry smoothies is because it adds sweetness and creaminess, without having to use dairy or any additional type of sweeter.
Smoothie Ingredients to Boost Health
Now if you want to give your strawberry smoothie a healthy boost, you can also add ingredients like fiber, fax seeds, protein powder or chia seeds. In this recipe, I’m going to add a tablespoon of acacia fiber.
Blend the Smoothie
So once you have all your ingredients, you’ll want to start blending them in your blender. Make sure there’s plenty of liquid to get things moving, and then slowly add the solid ingredients. If you’re using frozen strawberries, which is what I'm doing, you may not want or need to use ice.
Storing the Strawberry Smoothie
Once everything’s well blended, pour the contents into a glass. And now you're ready to enjoy your delicious, all natural strawberry smoothie. If you have any left over you can store it in the fridge for a day or so, or you can put it in the freezer if you need to store it longer but keep in mind that it always tastes best when it’s freshly made.
